If you love the warm, comforting flavors of apple pie, you’ll fall in love with this Apple Pie Bread.
It’s a moist, cinnamon-spiced quick bread packed with chunks of apple and a brown sugar swirl that makes every bite taste like dessert.
This easy recipe combines the coziness of homemade apple pie with the simplicity of banana bread — no yeast, no fuss, just mix, bake, and enjoy! Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or an afternoon snack with coffee or tea.
Ingredients
For the bread:
2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
¾ cup (150 g) granulated sugar
¼ cup (50 g) brown sugar
2 large eggs
½ cup (120 ml) buttermilk (or milk + 1 tsp vinegar)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 ½ cups (about 2 medium) peeled and diced apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala work great)
For the brown sugar swirl:
¼ cup (50 g) brown sugar
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Optional glaze:
½ cup (60 g) powdered sugar
1–2 tablespoons milk
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat and prepare
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and lightly flour a 9×5-inch (23×13 cm) loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
2. Mix the dry ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Set aside.
3. Make the batter
In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well.
Stir in the vanilla and buttermilk.
Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Fold in the diced apples (don’t overmix).
4. Add the cinnamon swirl
In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.
Pour half the batter into the loaf pan, sprinkle half the cinnamon-sugar mix, then add the remaining batter and sprinkle the rest on top.
Use a knife to gently swirl through the batter for a marbled look.
5. Bake
Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack.
6. Add the glaze (optional)
Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
Drizzle over the cooled bread before serving.
Tips
Use firm apples that hold their shape (Honeycrisp, Gala, or Granny Smith).
Add ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans for extra crunch.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
This bread also freezes beautifully — wrap tightly and freeze for up to 2 months.
Conclusion
Apple Pie Bread brings all the flavors of classic apple pie into a simple, cozy loaf.
It’s moist, aromatic, and easy enough for any day of the week — yet impressive enough for holidays and gatherings.
Serve it warm with a pat of butter or drizzle it with glaze for the perfect fall treat.
