Apple Cinnamon Lasagna Roll – Sweet & Cozy Cinnamon Roll Dessert
Apple Cinnamon Lasagna Roll – A Cozy & Sweet Dessert Twist
This warm and comforting dessert is like a sweet lasagna made with cinnamon rolls, baked apples, and rich caramel sauce. Layered and soft on the inside, golden on top, it’s a perfect fall or holiday treat—but honestly, you’ll want it all year round.
Ingredients (Serves 8)
2 packs of cinnamon rolls (store-bought, refrigerated or frozen – 8 to 10 rolls per pack)
4 large apples, peeled, cored, and chopped (Granny Smith or Golden Delicious work well)
½ cup white sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp ground nutmeg
1 tbsp cornstarch
½ cup caramel sauce (salted or classic)
Icing (from the cinnamon roll package, for drizzling after baking)
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven:
Preheat to 375°F (190°C).
Lightly grease an 8×8 inch (22×22 cm) baking dish.
2. Prepare the apple filling:
In a mixing bowl, combine chopped apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch.
Toss until the apples are evenly coated.
3. Flatten the cinnamon rolls:
Take each cinnamon roll and flatten it with your hands or a rolling pin on a lightly floured surface until it’s thin (but not torn).
These flattened rolls will act like “lasagna noodles.”
4. Layer the dessert:
Line the bottom of the baking dish with flattened cinnamon rolls, pressing the edges together to cover the base.
Add half of the apple mixture, then drizzle with some caramel sauce.
Add a second layer of flattened rolls, the remaining apple mixture, more caramel, and finish with a top layer of cinnamon rolls.
5. Bake:
Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake an additional 10–15 minutes until golden brown on top.
6. Cool & finish:
Let cool for 30 minutes before cutting.
Drizzle with the included icing and serve warm.
Serving & Storage Tips
Best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Store leftovers in the fridge, covered, for up to 3 days.
Reheat individual slices in the microwave or oven.
Optional Additions
Add chopped pecans or walnuts for crunch.
Use dulce de leche instead of caramel for a richer finish.
A pinch of clove or cardamom adds extra spice depth.
