This Swedish Meatball Noodle Bake is the ultimate comfort food! Tender homemade meatballs are combined with egg noodles and a rich, creamy gravy inspired by classic Swedish meatballs. Baked to golden perfection, this dish is hearty, satisfying, and perfect for weeknight dinners or cozy family meals.

Ingredients

For the meatballs:

1 lb ground beef (or ½ lb beef + ½ lb pork)

1 small onion, grated or finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

½ cup breadcrumbs

1 egg

¼ cup milk

½ tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

¼ tsp allspice

¼ tsp nutmeg

For the sauce:

4 tbsp butter

¼ cup all-purpose flour

2½ cups beef broth

1 cup heavy cream or sour cream

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper, to taste

Other:

12 oz egg noodles, cooked al dente

1 cup shredded mozzarella or Swiss cheese (optional)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Make the meatballs:

In a bowl, combine ground meat, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, and seasonings.

Form into small 1-inch meatballs.

Heat a skillet with oil and brown the meatballs on all sides. Set aside (they will finish cooking in the oven).

Prepare the sauce:

In the same skillet, melt butter. Add flour and whisk for 1-2 minutes.

Slowly add beef broth while whisking to avoid lumps.

Stir in cream and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.

Assemble the bake:

In a large bowl, mix cooked noodles with the sauce.

Gently fold in the browned meatballs.

Transfer mixture to the baking dish. Top with cheese if desired.

Bake:

Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes or until bubbly and golden on top.

Serve:

Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.
